Choosing Patterns
Question of the Day: Do you need to make the fabric patterns coordinate from room to room? Our consensus - do what makes you happy. We see 1000's of fabrics and it can be so overwhelming - we love so many of them - how do you choose? Great idea - get a yard of fabric that you like - use our quick no-sew accent pillow and try the fabric out in the room.

Hanging Art above a Sofa
Love this tip from Real Simple:
That space above your sofa can be intimidating to fill. Take this tip from the decorating pros: Choose art that’s two-thirds as wide as the couch—never the same width—and hang it, centered, so that its midpoint is about 60 inches from the floor and its bottom edge about 8 to 10 inches above the sofa back.

Fall Fun Festival
I am planning a fall carnival this year. I love how Pinterest makes this easier than ever. I have a board here: http://www.pinterest.com/shellyhosier/carnival-games/ One of my volunteers, a professional photographer, is going to take pictures of the kids in their costumes. So we need a fabulous photo booth spot... I was thinking a cute chevron like Zoom Zoom Village Natural would be great.
However, when I stopped by our showroom I saw this lovely green burlap which looks fabulous in person - this picture doesn't do it justice. I think it is going to be a perfect back drop to some hay bales and other fun fall stuff. I would love for you to share your favorite fall carnival ideas.

Crocodile Velvet
Faux animal skin is everywhere. We put animal patterns on our pillows, chairs, clothes, purses, shoes, walls, you name it - you can probably find it with a animal print pattern. So when we saw this fabric book of crocodile velvets, we got excited. They are soft and shiny. Lots of colors. Of course, how many times have we seen a soft and shiny crocodile in the wild or the zoo - like never. But we can have one in our house - much friendlier too. So check them out here >

Gorgeous Fabric
Today we were organizing some of the 100's of new books piling up around here. Some are going to the showroom, while some are just so fabulous that we can't wait to put them online. This peacock fabric is so gorgeous and shiny and vibrant, I stopped everything just to get it out there for the InteriorMall.com world to see. This exclusive Carole Fabrics pattern is available here. Plume is available in two colors: Spring (shown here) and Silver

If you are a designer or decorator, you should know this!
I overheard a phone call yesterday that got me to thinking about how many people call themselves a decorator/designer because they have a knack for putting things together. And I love those people - they buy things from us. And you have to start somewhere. However, there are some things you just have to know which brings me to the phone conversation. Someone bought railroaded fabric to make drapes. Those of you who are trained designers know immediately why that is a big problem. If you don't, check out this how-to on InteriorMall.com

A New Start
Who is InteriorMall.com? The brain child of a business man who happened to start in wallpaper. Then fabric. Then everything home décor. We went online in 1999. We quoted fabric by email - a lot. 100's of quotes a day. One day, the boss tells me "I want to see ALL the fabric books online - in one place where you can see it online and order samples." Let's do it. Of course, putting them ALL up is next to impossible when you are a small business. But man, we tried. We still are. Today there is a book on my desk of Realtree ® indoor and outdoor fabrics. Its on my list to get done this week. We'll see.
