In the exciting world of fabrics, the options are truly limitless. It can be overwhelming at first, but also incredibly fun! If you're embarking on a new project, here is a tip to guide you.

One helpful approach is the Rule of 3: choose a small, medium, and large print, with one common color that ties everything together. It's perfectly fine to mix patterns that don't necessarily "match" as long as they share that unifying color. Add in a soft, durable solid fabric, and you'll have the perfect foundation for a cohesive room design.

Finding a good bargain at a flea market or garage sale can make your day.  Turning something old into something usable and new to you is good for the environment and your personal economy. There are so many good ideas on the internet that it can be daunting to know when you do find a good bargain.  If you are like me, there are 100's of ideas floating around in your brain and focusing on just one is difficult.

"Follow your heart, because it won't be a bargain or a great find if you don't use it," Lara Spencer     When you are shopping, make sure the piece is solid but you don't need to worry so much about details like finishes, paint jobs or fabrics, since those things can all be changed.

2013 DIY Project #3 - Happy Scrappy Fabric Curtains

For DIY project #3 we had the fabulous idea to make curtains out of fabric scraps. Some great things about this project is that #1 it's easy and #2 with it being fabric scraps it is affordable. If you have ever done fabric projects in the past, odds are you have some scraps lying around the house and if you don't, hit up your local fabric store. They will have plenty of remnants just waiting to be used for a project like this.
