It's forgiving to reposition while you're hanging it, and it comes off later without wrecking the drywall. If you're renting, working on a quick project, or you like to change things up every couple of years, peel-and-stick is often exactly the right call — and an office accent wall is a great weekend project to start with.
Traditional wallpaper — paste-the-wall, prepasted, non-woven — is the pick when you want it up to stay. It tends to hold color a little longer and sit flatter on the wall for the long haul, which is why we still reach for it on a forever room. Neither one is the "wrong" answer. It comes down to how long you want it up, whether you're hanging it yourself, and how much you love the pattern. Both can look terrific behind a desk.
What to actually put on the wall

Grasscloth is the quiet favorite. It's a natural woven texture — real fiber, not a print of one — and it reads as calm and expensive without shouting. Behind a desk on a video call, it looks like you hired somebody. Just know it's a natural material, so it can vary panel to panel, and it's not the one for a steamy bathroom. An office, though? Ideal. The vinyl grasscloth looks are a fantastic option as well.
A tailored geometric or a small trellis adds structure without distraction. If you spend your day looking at spreadsheets, you don't want a wall that's also busy. Something with a repeat and a rhythm to it gives the eye somewhere to rest.
